Buying

We want to make buying at Wessex Auctions Rooms very easy and with that in mind we offer a number of ways for you to make a purchase.

Our Buyers Premium is 20%+vat

Bid in the room

We welcome all types of buyers to attend our auctions, whether you are at auction every day of the week or are about to make your first visit to experience the buzz of our saleroom. When you come in just make your way to reception and register to bid with us where we will give you your unique bidder number. It’s dead easy but if you have any questions please just ask.

Bid online

All of our auctions offer live online bidding facilities. Just click the link to the auction catalogue which will be available on our website and you can bid from the comfort of your own home. If you aren’t able to listen live, you can also leave your maximum bid online. There are additional fees for bidding online via our third party platforms. Please visit their websites for up to date information.

Commission bids

If telephoning or emailing the office to leave commission bids we will require (as well as your full name, address and contact details) details of a debit or credit card. Your bids will be executed as inexpensively as is permitted by other bids and reserves.

Telephone bid

We are happy to offer telephone bidding facilities however as a telephone bidder you must be able to open the bidding at the bottom estimate of the item on which you would like to bid.

Postage and Packing

We are pleased to be able to offer buyers our in-house postage and packaging service for many items. Please click the 'request postage quote' button once you have received your invoice. Please note that by clicking this button you are instructing us to pack your item(s) and inform you of the cost. Should you then decide not to use our shipping service there will be a small cost for the labour and materials

Where we are unable to offer postage and packing via our in-house team, we work with a number of couriers who will be able to assist.

Whilst we are able to insure against loss in post, we are unable to insure against damage in post. Our postage & packaging service is offered at the lowest possible cost to our customers which we are aware saves buyers a large sum of money compared to what professional packing companies charges. Due to this we are inundated with requests and whilst every effort is made to get your items out to you ASAP, we recommend you use Mail Boxes www.mbechippenham.co.uk if you require your items urgently.

We do not offer shipping on any firearms, including air rifles.

Under no circumstances will items be posted to alternative residential addresses, hotels or P.O. Box numbers. We can arrange delivery to a business address.

We are unable to ship precious metals to Australia, therefore should you require shipping we recommend MBE - info@mbechippenham.co.uk

Unfortunately we are no longer able to ship to Italy.

Collection of goods

Collection of all goods must be made by the end of the Wednesday following an auction (unless prior arrangements have been agreed with us). We accept no responsibility for loss, damage or breakages to any lots left here after that time.

For purchasers requiring postage and packing, a request to use this service must be made by the end of the Wednesday following an auction.

All goods remaining at the auction rooms after this time (unless postage and packing has been requested) will be subject to a storage charge of £2 per lot per day (unless prior agreement has been made with us). If after three weeks items have not been collected, Wessex Auction Rooms reserve the right to sell the items either at auction or privately.

Details of our full terms and conditions can be obtained from our office.
