Wessex Auctions Report – Toys 5th April 2023
As soon as our Toy Collectors Auction catalogue was online we knew we could expect another special two days of selling toys. Commission bids, telephone bids and auto bids were flying in from all over the world with bidders looking to add to their collections. The auction was jam packed with toy collections that vendors from around Wiltshire and the world were looking to sell including model railway, Dinky, Corgi & Matchbox diecast models, teddies & dolls, Star Wars, Lego, tin plate, steam engines and so much more.
Star Wars continued to be an auction favourite for buyers, and both original figures and accessories were being sold alongside the more contemporary boxed collectables. A collection of 10 of the infamous ‘Last 17’ figures were sold for £1,100 plus buyers premium to an online bidder - a fair sum for 10 uncarded figures!
Diecast from the 1960’s also had a good day at auction and a highlight was a French Dinky Coffret Cadeau Tourisme No 24 diecast model set which sold for £700 plus bp. The diecast cars actually showed some paint chips and wear along with a slightly tatty box which is more proof that if you are looking to sell toys …they don’t all need to be mint and boxed!
That’s your Wessex Auctions Report and with a busy few months approaching we are always consigning for specialist auctions in Toys, Vinyl, Jewellery, Silver, Coins & Watches, as well as Antiques, Collectables and Furniture if you have items to sell. Valuations can be arranged at our Wiltshire Auction Rooms or Bath City Centre office. We look forward to seeing you at the Antiques Furniture & Collectables auction on 15th April.
